Women Entrepreneurs – Five Things You Should Know

Some advice to heed from fellow female entrepreneurs:

There will never be a right time. You can always find a thousand reasons to not start your business. Your children are too young. You are too old. Money is tight. You’re too busy. The fact is, if you are waiting for the perfect moment to start, you will be waiting forever. Just buckle down and dive in headfirst. You’ll find a way to make it work, despite those reasons telling you to hesitate.

Ask for help. This one is so important! Don’t be afraid to reach out to your support group: friends, family, colleagues, etc. for everything from financial advice to helping with housework. Realizing that you can’t do everything on your own and asking for help is a sign of immense strength, not weakness.

Have a strong online presence. This doesn’t mean just your website – but that should be powerful too. You need to cover the gamut: having a presence on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn should be considered mandatory, not optional. Use social media as a way to brand your business and have a farther reach.

It’s going to be a lot harder than you realize. There will be obstacles and hurdles to overcome, but that doesn’t mean you should stop. Every challenge is a lesson for you to learn and grow as a business owner.

Be fearless. Venturing out on your own to become an entrepreneur is scary stuff. But the things that are the most worth having are usually the hardest to get. The risks are huge, but so is the possible payoff. It’s okay to be scared; just don’t let your fear paralyze you.

What potential do you have to create a successful business? Let go of your doubts and make the first move!
