GreenSmith Public Relations is a marketing, public relations, advocacy and business development firm. We deliver powerful results for small businesses, including sales leads, and have been engaged with start-ups for 20 years with go-to-market strategies and high visibility press. We’ve won three national awards for best editorial and PR campaigns for our clients. We also facilitate strategic connections for our clients with legislators in Washington, with venture capitalists and with media.
GreenSmith Public Relations often functions as the Washington public affairs office for many of our clients around the nation. Establishing crucial connections that result in exceptional outcomes for our clients is one characteristic that sets our firm apart.
GreenSmith Public Relations won the PRSA Bronze Anvil for best editorial writing for its series “Giving Energy a Voice” for Texas client CenterPoint Energy. It also won the IABC Ace Award for best corporate branding and identity campaign for Reston client Software AG. Most recently in fall 2017, GreenSmith won the Ragan Communications CSR award for best Community Partnerships work with DC client NFWF and its sponsor International Paper.
Who Is Your Target audience?
GreenSmith is a boutique PR firm started by our founder and CEO, Michael (“Mike”) Smith. With more than thirty years of experience at some of the world’s top public relations firms, Mike founded GreenSmith to better align his expertise with his passions, including working with clean energy and with conservation groups. At GreenSmith, we really value our clients—some of the best technology solutions companies in the world, and have launched 35 start-up companies. We approach our work with clients as a collaborative partnership; we’re in the business of developing ongoing connections and personal relationships rather than transactional ones.
How long have you been in business?
We are celebrating our 20 years in business this month, in fact. GreenSmith PR was launched by the Reston Chamber of Commerce Incubator Program in spring, 1999. Today, we have five people on-board and two larger offices at the Fairfax center.
Why Metro Offices?
Metro Offices is a wonderful “home” for our business, offering just what we need to thrive. The culture, or “vibe” is professional but relaxed, a good balance that supports our business’s functional needs and allows us to focus on our clients. We had been with another co-working space in the Reston Town Center for about ten years but appreciate Metro’s team including Amy Stiver and TJ Ferguson who are tremendous.
As a firm that is often traveling or on-site with clients, we appreciate the flexibility of Metro Offices, which allows us to use locations around the area including Reston and DC. We also benefit from a workspace that exposes us to other great business people, many of whom we now call friends.
