Metro Offices Employee Spotlight: Mari Oikawa

Mari Oikawa’s smile is one of the first things you will see as you approach Metro Offices’ One Metro Center location. Mari is one of our capable Front Desk Coordinators, and this Reston native has just the sort of warm, engaging personality that makes clients feel right at home. Her job responsibilities include managing incoming calls, scheduling DC office space and amenity usage for clients, providing administrative assistance, mail sorting, and countless other tasks that ensure our clients’ day-to-day operations run smoothly.

Mari has been employed by Metro Offices just over four years, and feels the company’s focus on the client sets it apart from other DC office space. “Metro Offices is extremely well organized in how we conduct our day-to-day routines as well as exceeding client expectations and needs,” says Mari. “Here at Metro Offices, we greet everyone with a kind smile and make everyone feel welcome and comfortable.” She especially loves the people she works with, both clients and coworkers, and feels her greatest strength is her ability to multitask while maintaining a smile.

Family is important to Mari, and she enjoys spending time with her parents and siblings. If she could go anywhere for a day, she would “go to Japan to see all of my relatives that I have not seen in over 15 years.” She also loves to socialize, and frequently attends networking events to meet other young, career-driven individuals. Traveling, discovering different cultures and customs, and attending local wine festivals and tastings are other interests. She has a love for music and the performing arts, and has been classically trained in Italian Opera.

Mari’s favorite places to dine out include the Cheesecake Factory, Pho 2000, Sei and Oya. Her favorite TV shows include True Blood and Boardwalk Empire.

Buying her own condo has been one of Mari’s biggest accomplishments to date. “It gives me a great sense of independence and satisfaction, knowing that with hard work and determination I can do anything I set my mind to.” We’re confident this hard work and determination will help her achieve one of her long-term goals: to own her own business.
