A commitment to investing in Web 2.0 and mobile technologies 

For a mobile-based company, laptops with enterprise level technology is necessary for every employee in order to keep them connected internally and able to work productively when outside of the office. Thigns like VOiP and PDA’s are something that agencies need to commit to investing in if they want to successfully support their employees with the new workspace system.

For integrating new things like hoteling and shared workspaces, agencies need to set up a workspace management system. This will allow employees to have 24/7 access to an online booking system that lets them see what work spaces are available. Through this system they can reserve a desk or shared area depending on when they need to come into the office.

New workforce solutions introduced must be effective

And they must make sense. A good approach would be to evaluate each different group (based on job function and level) and determine the appropriate workplace on demand solution for each. What works for one may not necessarily work for all. This evaluation process should also include a determination of cost and if new technology can fit into the budget. Identify a group for a test roll out to see how the employees respond. It’s also a good idea to develop a set plan for transitioning current employees into the new workspace, while new employees are immediately integrated.

There are many moving parts involved in creating a successful workplace on demand environment, but having stability and clearly defined goals with the aforementioned three will help all the smaller factors fall into place.
